Sources have disclosed what seems to be exactly what transpired
with respect to the supposed arrest and detention of
Mr.VICTOR OROKO, a barrister and solicitor of the
Supreme Court of Nigeria, residing in Uyo.

Report had earlier revealed that Mr. Oroko was being held at the
State CID cell in Akwa-Ibom State on the grounds that he wrote a
letter to the Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom
Emmanuel
to look into the complain by his Client. He was said
to have been arrested on an alleged order of the Governor and
detained for about three days in the police custody.

However an investigation conducted by TheNigerialawyer reveals
in details what seems to have truly transpired.

According to a source who spoke with TheNigerialawyer in the
course of making findings said that Mr. Oroko got a bad brief and
wrote a letter amounting to instigation of breach of peace.
Addressed to the Governor, the letter contained a matter on herds
men planing to bring down heaven on the state if they are not paid
80 million naira for 300 cows killed.

The source further revealed that, later, it was discovered that
the story was a lie as only three cows were killed and the matter
was already in court.

The source also stated that the state new Law on internal
security considers Mr. Oroko a terrorist by implication but there
is just no need to raise any alarm as he will be free on Monday as
assured by the state Attorney General.

The account if confirmed true will for the once, perhaps,
exonerate the Nigerian Police from an allegation of violation of
the dignity of one’s person as it relates to legal practitioners.
It is no gaining that of late, the legal community has been
disturbed with the report of police brutality meted to legal
practitioners in the country.
