President Muhammadu Buhari with former President Goodluck Jonathan on August 3, 2016 in Aso Rock Abuja when Mr. Jonathan visitedPresident Muhammadu Buhari met with former President Goodluck Jonathan at the presidential palace in Abuja on Wednesday and pictures later showed both might have had a good time.
Details of what they discussed may never be known, but Mr. Buhari might have sought Mr. Jonathan’s help as he battles the Niger Delta Avengers in the Niger Delta region where Mr. Jonathan hails from.

Mr. Jonathan decided to talk with the former militants when he was in power, giving them contracts worth millions of dollars to protect the same pipelines they were blowing off, but Mr. Buhari has decided to cancel the programme in a few years and has reduced monthly allowances given to them.
Not long after, a new group of militants emerged, demanding the independence of the region and blowing up oil and gas pipelines in many attacks.
Mr. Buhari and Mr. Jonathan are not best of friends. Mr. Buhari has repeatedly accused the administration of Mr. Jonathan to be extremely corrupt and his government has been trying several high-ranking officials, although the opposition has said his corruption was one-sided.
