Invokes FoI Act to obtain details of oil blocks awarded
in Nigeria

The chairman of George Uboh Whistleblowers Network [GUWN], Dr.
George Uboh has filed a suit against President Muhammadu Buhari, in
his capacity as the Minister of Petroleum Resources, over perceived
misdeeds in the allocation of oil blocks in Nigeria.

The suit was filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Other respondents in the suit include:

The Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami
[SAN]
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu
The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian national Petroleum
Corporation [NNPC], Dr. Maikanti Baru, and
Keystone Bank Ltd.

Dr. Ubioh had alleged that the above-mentioned bank was involved
in some fraudulent deals by NNPC officials when a total 115
transfers were made from the NNPC in one night.

The said transaction ran into tens of millions of dollars.

The foremost whistleblower also followed the suit up with a
Freedom of Information [FoI] request from the Petroleum Minister
to, amongst other things, furnish list of all oil blocks as well as
the conditions they were awarded.

A similar request was also forwarded to the Minister of State
for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu.

Recall that Dr. Uboh also, in December 2017, dragged the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC] to court over
N1.993 trillion unremitted to the coffers of the federal
government.

Uboh has always lamented that the fight against corruption in
the country is too shabby and needs a facelift, hence, has taken
the bull by the horn
