A Lagos based Lawyer and Human rights activist Ebun-olu
Adegboruwa, is challenging All Progressive Congress (APC)
governorship aspirant and the leadership of All Progressive
Congress (APC) Lagos state to make public the health, financial
status and every other necessary information about Mr Jide
Sanwo-Olu.
Ebun-olu Adegboruwa, Esq., said this sequel to a weighty
allegation raised on Sunday at a world press conference by the
governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode, against Jide Sanwo-Olu,
pointing to his health status and fraud indictment.
According to the Lawyer, Nigerians and Lagosians deserve to know
the true status of the person aspiring to hold such a sensitive
public office.
“Yesterday, many of us rose to condemn Governor Akinwunmi
Ambode, for his open attack on his opponent in the coming
Governorship primary, Mr Jide Sanwo-Olu.
“But I think it is now time to take stocks. The allegations
raised are weighty and serious, and we deserve to know the truth,
the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Some other information
have since emerged, indicating that indeed, all may not be well, in
that regard.
“Nigerians and Lagosians in particular, deserve to know the true
status of anyone aspiring to public office; not just in relation to
health, but also his preferences, his financial status and all
other areas of common concern. It is not proper to just wish this
away,” Ebun-olu Adegboruwa, Esq., said.
He also noted that The APC as a party owes a sacred duty of
disclosure.
“A sitting Governor will not just wake up one day and be throwing
allegations of mental instability against his opponent, that he
knows very well, just for the sake of winning an election.
“The import of any serious health challenge for any person
aspiring to the position of Governor of the largest economy in
Nigeria, is that of capacity, especially in the light of
allegations of godfatherism, as the bane of politics in Lagos
State. It then raises the issue of a lame duck governor, installed
only as a figure head, but in truth not capable of governance.
“The other point is a level playing field, for all contestants,
in the primary election. It is alleged that the structure of the
election is such as to produce a predetermined winner, to the
extent that the incumbent governor and his aides and loyalists have
no access cards to vote, in an election in which he is a major
contestant. That is totally unacceptable.
“It behoves the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the ruling
party of progressives, to show true leadership. It cannot continue
to be enmeshed in serious allegations of vote manipulation,
virtually in all elections in which it is involved.
He further added that “The latest report released by the team of
observers raised by the NBA to monitor the Osun rerun election, is
just too damning against the APC as a party, for it to move from
Osun to Lagos, to be planning to conduct a sham primary election,
so much that the said primary election has been shifted so many
times, and there’s no guaranty even now, that it will hold
soon.
“The leading figures in the All Progressive Congress (APC)
today, have their own track records in the history of Nigeria, such
that it is totally baffling that they are involved in the
mysterious controversies that the party is currently enmeshed
in.”
He therefore urge the All Progressive Congress (APC) to come out
clean and avail us with the true information concerning the status
of all its candidates and ensure free, fair and credible primary
elections.
“If what we witness now in the primary elections of the APC as a
ruling party is anything to go by, then we can as well forget
elections for 2019,” Ebun-olu Adegboruwa, stated.

Economic Hardships: All Hope is Not Lost-
Turaki
Frontline PDP presidential aspirant, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, has
counseled Nigerians not to lose hope completely in spite of their
current political, social and economic hardships.
In a message entitled: ALL HOPE IS NOT LOST to mark Nigeria’s
58th Independence Anniversary, Turaki who apparently attributed
Nigeria’s current woes to the failure of leadership, noted that God
has given the people another chance to turn their fortunes around
for the better only if they collectively work towards having a
Godly and genuinely transformational leadership.
“Let us not fail to seize this God-given opportunity” he
counseled further, “as we embark on another process to elect a
leader in February 2019 who will pilot the nation’s affairs for
another four years.”
In apparent reference to the unrestrained manipulation of
elections that had been witnessed in recent times, the presidential
aspirant advised the people thus: “Let us plan and work together
and be vigilant in order not to allow God’s plan and purpose for
our nation to be subverted. Remember, united we stand, divided we
fall. Also, eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.”
Turaki urged Nigerians to give gratitude to God for sparing
their lives to witness this year’s Independence Anniversary
because, he said, “these are not the best of times for our nation
which, ironically God has blessed with abundant and valuable human
and natural resources beyond human comprehension, yet we are
suffering in the midst of plenty.”
He attributed their predicaments to the horrendous conflicts
resulting in innumerable loss of lives which they have been going
through in the last few years, as well as the socio-economic
hardships and flagrant erosion of human dignity which they have
been subjected to also.
The former Minister of Special Duties And Intergovernmental
Affairs regretted that the hopes of the people have been dashed by
the government, promises made to them have not been kept, their
trust in government have been betrayed, lies have been elevated to
an art or as a state policy, while opportunities he regretted
further have been wasted and lines of division among the various
ethnic groups have become widened.
He noted that the plight of the ordinary Nigerian have been
worsened as a result of the political and indeed the electoral
systems being turned into a Nightmare in recent times “with the
bold-faced ‘robbery’ of the people’s mandate at every turn – no
thanks to the TRUSTEE (the government of the day) of the collective
fate of the people.”
Turaki however urged the people to be grateful to God also
because the judiciary “that has been pummeled, harassed or
intimidated by the current government has survived to play its
constitutional role as the last hope of the oppressed.”
